    TRAVEL TIPS:

    • The best season to visit in Kovalam is the winter season when the weather is cooler and the humidity is also less. Cooler temperatures allow plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures. Overall, The best time to visit Kovalam is from September to February. Any other months besides these can mean unpredictable weather changes and unnecessary packing to cope with these weather fluctuations.
    • Some of the main attractions for tourism in Kovalam, besides the beaches, are the ayurvedic and yoga retreats. On an excursion to Kovalam, one can make a visit to a few of the best ayurvedic massage centres. A perfect place to connect with oneself and nature, a visit to these therapeutic centres is truly an enriching experience.
    • Brimming with plethora of cafes and restaurants, an excursion to this place is meant to treat your taste buds to scrumptious cuisines
    • which serve a range of South Indian and European dishes that are mouth-watering.
    • Crammed with a bounty of splendid beaches, Kovalam let tourists enjoy some adventure activities, besides breathtaking views and blissful moments to cherish. Here is a chance to let your heart pound and satiate that inherent adrenaline junkie in you while partaking in activities, like: parasailing, windsurfing, snorkeling.
    • Kovalam Junction is about a 10-15 min walk up the hill from the main beach. You will pass through it on your initial arrival into Kovalam. Your main reason for coming here will be the ATMs, the post office, and Divine Supermarket. There are also a few good cheap eateries located around the area, a decent supermarket, and a few grocery stores where you can save a little money from the beach store prices.
    • Swimming in the ocean here can be dangerous and many people drown. The lifeguards mark different areas of the sea as dangerous. They are not kidding. If the current catches someone, it pulls them both down and out.
    • You also have to be careful of the jellyfish. The small orange jellyfish are dangerous, and the purple ones are harmless.
    • Tourists visiting Kovalam can hire bikes or bicycles. These modes of transport make it easy for travellers to explore the town at their own pace. However, there is also the more expensive option of hiring a private taxi where the drivers, sometimes, also double up as guides and take tourists to visit all attractions of the town.
    • Speed boating is available during day and is quite good.
    • Local Guys teach to surf and surfing boards are available on rent too at a price of 100 and 200. • The accommodation on this street overlooking the ocean is extremely overpriced and as the beach is highly commercialized you'll have a hard time bargaining. The hack here is to look for narrow streets going in between restaurants. The prices in hotels in these streets are 20-30% of the ones on the main street. Keep going into these streets and you'll find a labyrinth of streets behind the main street all filled with better cafes, better and peaceful accommodation, better shopping options and the best part is they are all cheaper than their counterparts on the main street.
    • The lone traveller might love Hawah Beach more, as it is not as crowded as The Light House Beach.
    • Opening timings of lighthouse beach: Monday - Friday - 15:00 To 17:00, Saturday - 15:00 To 17:00, Sunday - 15:00 To 17:00, Public Holidays - 15:00 To 17:00 "There is a nominal fee (ticket) to go atop the light house.

If you are keen to visit a place that has a glorious past and a busy present with great temples that flaunt the architectural brilliance of the artisans, you need to be in Madurai. The 2500 plus years old city, which has a rich heritage, is located on the banks of Vaigai river. Famously called The city that never sleeps’, Madurai is always busy regardless of the time of the day.
